ABOUT US

Hi, I'm Ryan! I'm a senior in high school and I have been studying abacus and mental math for over 12 years. I am a certified teacher by the Chinese American Abacus Association (CAAA) with 4 years of experience teaching the foundations of abacus to elementary school students. I have earned the CAAA Advanced Level Abacus & Mental Math Award in 2024, 2023, 2022,  and 2021. In addition, I am a 2X CAAA Scholarship winner. I have competed in and won several abacus dictation contests and flash mental math competitions. I also competed internationally in the Taipei City Cup, placing 3rd. 

Abacus and mental math have shaped and improved my life: from becoming a better STEM student in school to building my focus & memory. My own experiences inspired me to start Mathgik because I want to share the same techniques and life lessons that have helped me succeed. Abacus and mental math teach patience, discipline, and mental sharpness and I believe that anyone can develop these skills through Mathgik.
